It’s almost Halloween, so stand apart from the store bought fare by becoming Bayonetta, SEGA’s upcoming video game heroine whose online presence has continued to soar. To assist you in nailing the look of this distinct witch, here are some tips:

- Glasses
- Hair

While designing a body suit out of hair presents a number of challenges, a latex cat suit with stiletto heeled boots will do just fine. The key component is attaching a gold chain down the front and finding a nice round ornament to wear as a neckpiece.
Given the challenges of a hair-like cape, there is another option. When Bayonetta jumps high into the air, butterfly wings appear. They were designed to look like stained glass and to stand out in contrast to her black attire, so think blue.
When it comes to defining characteristics, you’ll be hard pressed to find another action heroine whose eyewear alone could be used to identify her. While you can’t buy the butterfly-adorned sides of her frames over the counter, thin rectangular black rimmed glasses should do the trick.
Bringing the beehive back into vogue in lieu of the traditional witch’s hat is Bayonetta’s chain-&-ribbon wrapped hairdo.
The devil, of course, is in the details. Throughout the game, a strange script can be found in many of the sequences, as well as along her hair ribbon. While we can’t share what it says, here is a sample script that relies on the same font which you can print on the ribbon.
There are many witches with broomsticks, but none with boomsticks. Scarborough Fair, the name of each of Bayonetta’s guns, is easy to identify based on the blood red color and the name is printed on the sides. The design is based on the Derringer, since it’s a simple, rugged gun capable of rapid fire, but it’s obviously been embellished. Add-ons include a crystal in its center allowing it to magically summon bullets, as well as a rail on the top of the guns so they can be equipped on Bayonetta’s feet by sliding them into the gap in her high heels. Since most stores don’t sell Derringers and tricking out real guns is not advised, you are better off modifying a Nerf gun.
Bayonetta also has a pretty distinct Japanese-styled sword whose closest comparison is the katana. One thing that sets it apart is the enormous hand guard designed in the shape of the witches mark.
Bayonetta exudes confidence with a lot of her strength reflected in the way she can practically kill a man with her eyes alone or have them swoon from a simple seductive sideways glance. She is also quite sassy with a rapier wit and a snicker that let’s you know she’s having the last laugh. Just be sure to get the accent right.
If you’re living under a cauldron and not familiar with BAYONETTA™, it is a cinematic, stylized action game from the famed creative mind of renowned game developer, Hideki Kamiya of PlatinumGames. Bayonetta, the game’s protagonist, is a graceful, gun-wielding witch who awakens after being entombed in a coffin at bottom of a lake for 500 years with no memory. As players embark on this quest with Bayonetta, they will begin to unfold the mystery behind her past and her purpose in the game, such as why she fights against angels and other countless fantastic enemies. In combat, Bayonetta uses weapons, magic, acrobatics and her larger-than-life hair to redefine the look and feel of the action genre. BAYONETTA is slated for release in January 2010 for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.
